A man is in hospital with serious injuries after an early-morning incident on the A75.
Police raced to the stretch of motorway near Cuckoo Bridge in Dumfries at 3.30am today after receiving reports of concern for a person. On arrival, a man was found seriously injured.
He was blue-lighted to the Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary for treatment, where his current condition is unknown. A police probe has been launched to establish the full circumstances.
The stretch of road between Castle Douglas Road and Glasgow Road remains closed to allow investigations to take place. Meanwhile, officers have appealed to members of the public for information.
In particular, they want to hear from those with dash-cam footage.
Detective Inspector Hayley Little said: “It is unclear how this man came to be on the A75 and enquiries are ongoing to establish the events leading up to him being injured. We are appealing to anyone who was on the A75 or the Hardthorn Road, which passes over the top of the A75, around this time and who may have seen something.
"We are also keen to obtain any dash-cam footage from the A75 or the Hardthorn Road around the time of the crash. “Anyone with any information should contact officers through 101, quoting incident number 0596 of 12 November, 2022.”
