Man rushed to hospital with serious injuries after four car crash

A man was rushed to hospital with serious injuries after a crash yesterday.

Emergency services were called to Prescot Road, in Melling, to reports of a crash including four vehicles, at around 6.20pm on Sunday, January 16.

Once at the scene, close to the Spurriers Lane junction, police found two blue BMW’s, a Mercedes Van and a black Land Rover were involved.

A 22-year-old man was taken to hospital with 'major trauma related injuries', however officers have said his they are not believed to be life threatening.

Police put a cordon in place for a number of hours while investigation and clear up work took place.

North West Ambulance spokesperson confirmed two people were taken to hospital.

One was a man in his 20s, who suffered 'major trauma related injuries' and the second had 'minor injuries.'

An air ambulance was also in attendance , however it wasn't required.

A spokesperson for Merseyside police said: "At around 6.25pm yesterday (Sunday 16 January) we received a report of a collision involving four vehicles in Melling.

"It was reported that two blue BMW’s, a Mercedes Van and a black Land Rover were involved in a collision on Prescot Road, near to the junction of Spurriers Lane.

"Emergency services attended and a 22-year-old male was taken to hospital with serious injuries which are not life threatening. He remains in hospital in a stable condition.

"Prescot Road was closed while officers carried out enquiries and have since re-opened.
