A man was rushed to hospital last week with serious injuries after a jet ski incident on Loch Lomond, near Luss Pier.
The 21-year-old was taken to Glasgow’s Queen Elizabeth University Hospital on Thursday after a jet ski collided with a speedboat, prompting calls for more action to be taken to make the Loch safer.
Dumbarton MSP Jackie Baillie, who previously called for a ban on jet skis on Loch Lomond, warned that she fears someone will be killed on the Loch unless action is taken.
She said: “It is incredibly concerning that a jet skier has been seriously injured while using the loch. I hope he makes a speedy recovery and his injuries are not too severe.
“While I welcome the ongoing consultation by Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park on existing byelaws, this incident highlights the urgent need to act now. We cannot wait until there is a repeat of this or, even worse, someone is killed.
“This incident happened close to Luss Pier where there is already a speed limit in place but there desperately needs to be greater enforcement for the safety of all users of the loch. I urge the National Park to take action now before it is too late.”
A spokesman for Police Scotland said: “At around 6.30pm on Thursday, August 25, we were called to a report of a crash involving a jet ski and a speed boat close to Luss Pier, Loch Lomond.
