Man rushed to hospital after being stabbed in Scots town

A man has been rushed to hospital after being stabbed in Greenock last night.

The attack took place on Roxburgh Street in the town at around 7.45pm.

Emergency crews including Police Scotland and Scottish Ambulance Service attended the scene.

A 44-year-old man was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow where he received treatment for his injuries.

His condition is not yet known.

A 39-year-old man has now been arrested in connection with the incident.

Officers say enquiries into the stabbing are ongoing.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Officers were called to reports of a man having been stabbed on Roxburgh Street, Greenock, around 7:45pm on Saturday, 26 March, 2022.

"The 44-year-old man was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital by ambulance for treatment.

"A 39-year-old man has been arrested in connection.

"Enquiries are ongoing."
