Man rushed to hospital after assault near Blue Lagoon outside Glasgow Central station

A man has been rushed to hospital after being assaulted near a famous fish and chip shop outside Glasgow Central Station.

Emergency services raced to Blue Lagoon in the city centre's Gordon Street at around 5.35pm on Sunday July 10.

The man was then taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary for treatment to his injuries. However his current condition is unknown.

Photos from the scene yesterday showed a screen erected close to the chippy.

Officers were also seen standing guard next to a police cordon which was removed later in the evening.

Enquiries to establish the full nature of the incident remain ongoing.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 5.35pm on Sunday, 10 July, 2022, police received a report of a man being assaulted in Gordon Street, Glasgow, near to the Blue Lagoon.

"Officers attended and the man was taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary for treatment.

"Enquiries are ongoing."
