A man was rescued after falling 20m at a popular Lake District waterfall. He suffered injuries to his head, shoulder and back after falling into the gorge at Aira Force near Ullswater on Saturday afternoon, Patterdale Mountain Rescue Team said.
He was initially helped by members of the public, who climbed down into the gorge, and was then pulled to safety on a stretcher before being taken to hospital. A spokesperson for the team wished him a 'speedy recovery from his ordeal'.

Mountain rescue volunteers were already in the area after helping a woman near Red Tarn at the foot of Helvellyn, who had slipped and suffered a suspected fractured ankle. Firefighters, paramedics and the air ambulance were also called to the scene.
The operation involved 24 mountain rescuers and took just under three hours. A spokesperson for the team said there had been 'numerous incidents' at Aira Force this year and urged visitors to take caution.
They said: "Aira Force is a popular place for members of the public and we have been to numerous incidents there this year we would like to remind everyone to take care when near the edges of the waterfalls as they can be slippy."
