A man has been released by police without charge after the death of a 53-year-old neighbour.

The 55-year-old man was initially arrested four days ago on Queensland's Sunshine Coast.

He was taken into custody after emergency services found the 53-year-old man dead at a unit complex at Parrearra last Thursday.

Police initially said the man had died after a fist fight at the community housing location with his 55-year-old neighbour.

But police on Tuesday said investigators were considering underlying medical conditions that may have contributed to the man's death following an extensive post-mortem.

"The 55-year-old man initially arrested has since been released from custody without charge at this time," a police statement said.

Police are preparing a report for the coroner.
