A woman fought off an alleged attacker after he "pushed her into a tree" as she walked through a local park.
Police received a report that at around 6.15pm on Monday a woman in her 20s entered Birkenhead Park at the Park Road East/Park Road South entrance. A man allegedly approached her and pushed her into a tree after a brief conversation.
He then reportedly attempted to grab her wrist and made a suggestive comment. The victim managed to fight the man off and leave towards Birkenhead Park train station.

The suspect is described as white, 5ft 8in tall, with dark, short curly hair and a dark beard. He was wearing dark clothing and black gloves. CCTV and witness enquiries are ongoing and we are carrying out extra patrols in the area.
Detective Inspector Phil Ryan said: "Extensive enquiries are continuing into this concerning incident. The victim was understandably distressed and we are looking to support her in any investigation.
“As we look into any available CCTV or other evidence, I'd ask anyone who was in the area of the playground entrance to the park around 6pm on Monday and saw the incident or the man described, to please let us know.
“Tackling violence against women and girls remains a top priority for the force and we will continue to take action to target those who are responsible and bring them to justice, as well as working with our partners to ensure people feel safe and supported in public spaces.
