A man pulled out a knife in a Merseyside town centre.

Merseyside Police confirmed that a man threatened a shop security guard with a knife yesterday (Thursday, November 24) in Southport town centre. The security guard used the town link radio system to alert a PCSO in the area who managed to get officers to the scene quickly.

A 31-year-old man was detained a short distance away and was arrested on suspicion of possession of a bladed article in a public place and affray.
