A man was jailed for 204 days after attacking a group of women on a night out in Bristol.
Paul Scriven, 21, of Twinnell House in Easton, was out with mates when they encountered a group of women outside the Za Za Bazaar venue at just gone 2am. Though his pals tried to assist as the women helped a fallen friend, Scriven verbally abused them - and hit three of them.
Scriven pleaded guilty to three charges of battery after the assaults on April 16. He also admitted breaching a suspended sentence imposed a month earlier for burglary and theft.

Judge Michael Longman jailed him for 204 days. He told Scriven: "These were unattractive offences of violence which were completely unnecessary."
Meabh McGee, prosecuting, told Bristol Crown Court Scriven's pals tried to assist the women after one fell over. But Scriven told pals just to leave them before striking three women in an ugly clash.
The court heard one woman suffered a chipped tooth and sore jaw and cheekbone while a second sustained a head injury, black eye and cut to the bridge of her nose.
Scriven was captured on CCTV committing the assaults. When police interviewed him he declined to comment.
John Stokes, defending, said: "Your honour gave him a chance with a suspended sentence order. He failed to take the opportunity. He recognises his behaviour that night was completely unacceptable.
"He drank to excess, his friends had as well and the complainants had been drinking heavily likewise. Some of his friends wanted to act as Good Samaritans, he walked away and there was a verbal exchange between the girls and him."
