A man on a stag do in Cardiff was taken to hospital after jumping into the River Taff and prompting a huge emergency service response. Police, fire crews and paramedics were all involved in the dramatic rescue on Friday, April 21 which saw officers carry out a search from the riverbank before helping pull the 30-year-old to safety.
South Wales Police responded to reports of a man in the river at around 11.30pm, with officers searching both sides of the river before spotting the man and hearing him shouting for help. After seeing him, two officers then climbed over a wall and onto the riverbank, talking to him and directing him to an area where he could be rescued.
The two officers threw the man a rescue line and kept him calm until the fire service arrived and helped to get him out of the water. He was then treated by paramedics and taken to hospital as a precaution, before being discharged.
