Wanted man on roof 'demands double pepperoni pizza' in police standoff
A wanted man who climbed onto a roof after a police chase reportedly demanded a pepperoni pizza during the standoff.
After a chase with Merseyside Police, two men ended up on the roof of a home on Walton Breck Road, in Anfield, at around 6.30pm on Wednesday, August 3. Patrols attended after one of the men has dropped white and brown rocks, believed to be drugs.
One man came down from the roof and was arrested by officers on suspicion of possession of Class A and B drugs. The second man, who is wanted by police, remained on the roof for the rest of the evening.

Police placed a cordon on Walton Breck Road between Sleepers Hill and Everton Valley, before requesting help from Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service and the North West Ambulance Service. The man was seen walking along a number of roofs on Walton Breck Road, and at one point almost slipped and fell.
The man also shouted the crowds of people who gathered on Sleepers Hill and Paley Close "I want to speak to my solicitor". When a woman responded to ask what the number was, he said "I have no idea".

'Beautiful and caring' mum of two took her own life after finding lump on her breast
A mum-of-two who "made everyone smile" took her own life after finding a lump on her breast.
Michelle Cooke from Crosby battled with her mental health from the age of 16 when she tried to take her own life. Since then, the mum to Jaimee and Tyler was diagnosed with bipolar disorder and often turned to alcohol when she began to struggle.
The 37-year-old spiralled when she found a lump on her breast on Wednesday, July 27, with Michelle then panicking and fearing the worst. She rang the doctors to try and make an appointment but Michelle took her life the next morning after a day and night of drinking, her mum told the ECHO.

Janet Filipe, 67, said: "She had everything going for her but she had this lump on her breast on her mind. I remember she went to Turkey when she was pregnant and she said it was the last holiday before she had children with her and since her death, we've had people she met 12 years ago there ringing up about her.
"That's the type of person she was, a beautiful, caring person. She would spend so much time helping people. She helped the homeless and cooked meals for them. That was her and that was my daughter."

Full list of bus service changes coming to Liverpool City Region
Service withdrawals, reductions and operator changes have been confirmed across five of the six boroughs in Liverpool City Region.
Following a two-week consultation in June, Arriva and Stagecoach have confirmed the swathes of changes they have put forward to services in Knowsley, Liverpool, Sefton, Wirral and St Helens from September. The move to shake-up more than 70 services has gone ahead despite opposition from political leaders and service users alike.
Metro Mayor Steve Rotheram described the cuts as “perverse” and said they had come at the “wrong time”. Cllr Liam Robinson, chair of the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority transport committee, also called on the providers to think again over their mooted changes.

The list of amendments has now been confirmed, with dozens being updated for the September 4 changeover date. According to the consultation website, the changes are being made “to ensure that a sustainable network is in place which reflects changes in travel demands and patterns whilst continuing to maintain bus network coverage, encourage passenger growth, and promote buses as a preferred mode of travel.
“While some services have seen a good rate of recovery in passenger numbers since the removal of Covid-19 restrictions, others have not. This means that they may require changes to their route or timetable to allow them to remain sustainable.”
