Man lynched in Thane, 4 held by cops

THANE: Kalwa police has arrested four persons for murdering a 26-year-old man suspecting that he had stolen the mobile phone of one of the accused. The accused have been identified as Abid Shaikh, 25, Sohail Shaikh 19, Allauddin Shaikh 19 , and Sarfarosh Ansari, 21; and the deceased as Farid Shaikh.

Assistant commissioner Venkat Andhale said that on Wednesday evening, they received a call that a body has been found near Bhaskar nagar. Shah was taken to Kalwa hospital where he was declared dead on arrival.

The investigators initially had a vague lead in identifying the deceased as there was only a tattoo on his hand with his name Farid, and an anchor beside it. Following this, the police launched the probe, and identified the deceased who used to reside in the same locality. -
