A man was left needing stitches to his face after trying to break up a fight in Newcastle.
It was reported that a man was walking down Collingwood Street in the city centre and stopped to help break up a fight at around 11pm on December 18. Another man believed to be involved in the incident then proceeded to punch the victim leaving him with serious injuries to his face that required stitches.
An investigation was launched and officers have now released an image of a man they want to speak to. They are also asking for any witnesses to come forward.

A spokesperson for Northumbria Police said: "A number of enquiries have been carried out and police are now appealing for any witnesses who are yet to come forward.
"Police are also keen to identify a man who was in the area at the time of the incident and may be able to assist officers with their investigation.
"The man, or anyone with information, is asked to call 101 or use the ‘Tell Us Something’ page on our website quoting crime number NP-20211218-1286."
