Man left with serious facial injuries after unprovoked assault and robbery

A man was left with serious facial injuries after being assaulted and robbed in a Renfrew park.

The unprovoked attack happened in Robertson Park between 5.30pm and 6.30pm on Wednesday (September 28).

The 25-year-old male victim was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for treatment of his facial injuries. Personal items as well as a black mountain bike with white brakes were also taken.

Police Scotland is now appealing for anyone with information about the suspect to come forward, describing the attack as "vicious and unprovoked".

The first suspect is described as male, white, late teens or early 20s with blonde hair. He was wearing a white hooded top, dark tracksuit bottoms, dark trainers and was carrying an over-the-shoulder strap pouch bag and a glass bottle.

The second is described as male, white, late teens or early 20s with dark hair. He was wearing a blue tracksuit top, bright blue tracksuit bottoms, checked scarf, dark trainers and was carrying a dark rucksack with stripes on the rear and a glass bottle.

Detective Constable James Campbell said: “This was a vicious, unprovoked attack on a vulnerable young man who has ended up in hospital as a result.

“It’s vital we trace those responsible and I would urge anyone with information about what happened or who recognises the description of these males to get in touch with us.”
