Man left with facial injuries after being hit with glass at Bishop Auckland pub 'multiple times'

A man was left with facial injuries after he was allegedly hit with a glass at a pub in County Durham.

Durham Constabulary received a report of an assault at The Tap and Tun, on Newgate Street in Bishop Auckland, on Saturday, December 11, 2021, at around 11.30pm.

It is believed the suspect threw a drink at the victim before hitting him in the head with the glass multiple times.

Officers said the man was taken to hospital after suffering facial injuries and are now appealing for witnesses to come forward.

A spokesperson said: "Police are appealing for information following an assault in Bishop Auckland.

"It is believed the suspect threw a drink at the victim before hitting him in the head with the glass multiple times.

"The victim was taken to hospital and has been left with facial injuries.

"Anyone who was in the pub at the time or who witnessed the incident is asked to contact DC Steven Gill from Bishop Auckland CID on 101 then dial extension 742111."
