Man left needing 34 stitches after violent row over rabbit

A man suffered a wound requiring 34 stitches after being punched and hitting his head on the pavement when he woke up his attacker to feed a rabbit. The victim's girlfriend had been given permission to leave her rabbit at the flat where Damien Biggs lived by his landlord.

The 49-year-old punched Malcolm Morris twice during the attack outside his home in Cardiff on March 20 last year. Mr Morris had attended the address in Tin Street, Adamsdown, with his partner in order to feed her rabbit, which was placed in Biggs' flat after a change in accommodation meant she was unable to house the creature.

A sentencing hearing at Newport Crown Court heard when Mr Morris and his partner knocked on Biggs' door they received no answer. She told the victim the defendant had been working a night shift and would try him again later but Mr Morris remained at the flat for half an hour and continued to knock on the door.
