Mobile phone footage caught the moments after a man jumped from a burning building and lay visibly "smouldering" in a back garden.
Emergency services were called to Wellington Grove in Wavertree shortly before midnight on Friday, March 31, following reports of a blaze at a flat. Once Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service arrived at the scene they found flames thick black smoke and orange flames billowing out of a top-floor flat
A neighbour recorded a man lying in the garden and screaming in pain with smoke visibly emanating from his body. Witness John Taylor said he was standing in his living room when he saw the man dive out of the second-story window and then lie "smouldering in the garden".

John told the ECHO: "I looked out my back window and I could see smoke billowing out of the flat. I call my grandson who has been staying with me and he tried to find out what was going on.
"There were massive flames coming out of the flat and one of the guys had jumped out of the window and it looked like he could not get up. He was smouldering and smoke was coming off him. It was crazy."
Three fire engines followed by at least nine police cars also arrived at the scene as a cordon was put in place on the road, along with a small section of Picton Road. A fire investigator was seen taking pictures inside the cordon, with police detectives also in attendance.
Mr Taylor, 59, said: "I took it okay but my wife and grandson's wife are still a bit shocked. It wasn't nice the girl underneath me was crying for her baby so, it was a lot."
In a statement, a spokesperson for Merseyside Fire and Rescue, said: "On arrival crews were met with a first floor flat well alight. Four firefighters wearing breathing apparatus (BA) entered the property with two hose reel jets to fight the blaze while additional fire service personnel gathered information regarding other occupants and searched the property.
"North West Ambulance Service are on scene and one casualty has been assessed and conveyed to hospital for further treatment.
"Crews continued to dampen down inside the property and the fire has now been extinguished. Firefighters in BA are hotspotting. All persons have been accounted for and utilities to the flat affected have now been isolated."
Merseyside Police confirmed they were in attendance.
