A man killed a woman who was concerned about how he was treating his partner.
Ian Edwards reversed his car while the passenger door was still open and hit mum-of-four Nicola Kirk. The 37-year-old - who had earlier taken cocaine and alcohol - then fled the scene before phoning police lying he had drove off as he had been threatened.
Nicola, 45, tragically died from head injuries following the incident at a car park in Whitesands, Dumfries on May 12 2021. Edwards had been due to stand trial at the High Court in Glasgow.
