A man who was attacked by one of his son’s pet dogs bled to death after being bitten on the leg. An inquest heard that attempts were made to stem the bleeding from Keven Jones' left leg but died at his son's house in Holt Road, Wrexham.
At the inquest opening in Ruthin, Home Office pathologist Dr Matthew Lyall gave the provisional cause of death as loss of blood due to a leg injury.
John Gittins, senior coroner for North Wales East and Central, said that police officers were called to the house on May 23 by ambulance staff who had applied a tourniquet to Mr Jones’ leg.

Adjourning the inquest to a full hearing to a date to be fixed, the coroner said that further investigations needed to be carried out by the police and his officers.
The dog involved, a two-year-old American Bull dog known as Cookie, was one of five dogs owned by Mr Jones’ son Josh who was in London at the time.
Mr Jones, a 65-year-old former HGV driver, of St Mark’s Road, Saltney, had been asked to care for the dogs by Josh’s wife Chanel Fong because she had to go out for the day. She said she heard Mr Jones shout “He’s got me”, and she found him lying on the living-room floor.
Cookie was sedated by a police marksman and later euthanised by a vet.
Ms Fong, who later described the dog as ”not aggressive in the least” said: “I watched two men I love so much take their last breath.”
