Man jailed after terrifying residents in scrambler bike shooting

A man was jailed after a scrambler bike shooting which terrified residents.

Thomas Anthony Linsner, 31, of Bravery Court, Speke, appeared at Liverpool Crown Court on Monday, June 26, where he was found guilty of conspiracy to possess firearms with intent to cause fear of violence.

It came after a shooting on July 24, 2019, at the junction of Erin Close and Laxey Street in Dingle. The incident happened at around 8.15pm with two scrambler bikes reportedly being involved in the incident.

Witnesses reported hearing the bikes in the street and then three loud bangs. Families living in the area said they were left frightened to let their children play out in the streets following the dramatic incident.

Linsner was sentenced to six years in prison in Liverpool Crown Court on Monday. Earlier this year four other men were sentenced for conspiracy to possess a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence in relation to the Dingle discharge.

They were:

Edward Dutton, 43, of Cranwell Road, Liverpool - sentenced to six years.

Anthony Jones, 23, of Saltergate Road, Liverpool - sentenced to five years.

Nathan Kelly, 29, of no fixed abode - sentenced to five years.

James Quinn, 31, of Grafton Street, Liverpool, who was also sentenced for a drugs offence - sentenced to nine and a half years.

Detective Inspector Dave Jones said: “This was an extremely dangerous and reckless act and it’s only down to sheer good fortune that no one was seriously injured. We sadly know the devastating consequences of gun crime, not only on victims and their families but also in our wider communities.

“Such investigations can take time to bring to court, but be assured that if you provide information on where you think firearms and ammunition are being stored, carried and used, we will take action to make the communities safer. Taking a gun, ammunition or an offender off the streets can save a life, and make those areas affected by gun crime places where such crime will not be tolerated.”
