A man has been jailed after assaulting two members of staff at a popular Nottingham pub in the city centre. Nottinghamshire Police arrested Daniel Edwards after he assaulted two members of staff at the Joseph Else Wetherspoon in South Parade, off Old Market Square, on March 3.
The 29-year-old, of no fixed address, punched one man in the face and bit another on the arm during the incident outside the city centre pub. The man was in the smoking area when he became aggressive and began an unprovoked attack against his first victim.
At around 9pm, a security guard restrained the man as he continued to be violent. Edwards, who was subsequently arrested, later told Nottinghamshire Police that he was drunk and could not remember the incident.

He appeared at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on March 7, and pleaded guilty to two counts of assault and was jailed for 10 weeks. He was also ordered to pay £50 in compensation.
PC Nicole Bass, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “This was a disgraceful and unprovoked attack that could have caused somebody a serious injury. I am pleased that Edwards has been dealt with so quickly by the courts and hope this case serves as a warning to others about the consequences of this type of behaviour.”
