A man has died in hospital three weeks after a suspicious house fire in north Queensland that claimed his partner's life.
Police launched a homicide investigation after the blaze in Ayr on August 9, which they believe was deliberately lit.
A 47-year-old woman suffered severe burns and died in hospital that day.
Detectives had sought to question her 65-year-old partner over the fire, but he was kept in an induced coma at the Royal Brisbane Hospital.
Police confirmed he died on Monday night as a result of the injuries he suffered in the blaze.
Earlier this month, police revealed officers had attended the property just hours before the fire broke out to conduct a welfare check and spoke to the couple.
A domestic violence order between the pair had been in place since 2018.
Investigators from the Ethical Standards Command will prepare a report for the coroner into both fatalities.
The officers' dealings with the couple prior to the fire is also under investigation.
