Two men have been taking to hospital following an alleged knife attack at a block of flats in Wishaw.
Emergency services rushed to the flats in Pentland Road in the Wishawhill area in the early hours of Wednesday morning.
One man is described as being in a serious condition after being transferred to Hairmyres Hospital in East Kilbride while a second man remains in a stable condition at the nearby Wishaw General.
Police remained at the scene throughout Wednesday morning with the flats being taped off.
One resident, who asked not to be named, said: “We have all been told it was a stabbing. I managed to get a word with one police officer who told me it was a ‘major incident’.
“It’s awful.”
A Police Scotland source told Lanarkshire Live : “We were called to Pentland Road, Wishaw, around 12.20am on Wednesday after two men, both aged 31, were found injured.
“They were taken to Wishaw General for treatment where one man is described as being in a stable condition. The second man was transferred to Hairmyres Hospital in a serious condition.
“This is believed to be an isolated incident and enquiries are ongoing.
“Anyone with any information is asked to contact 101.”
