A man is fighting for his life after suffering head injuries during a shooting on farmland in south Dublin.
Gardai are investigating the shooting incident that happened just off the Blessington Road at around 1pm this afternoon.
No fatalities have been reported but a man is in a serious condition after sustaining head injuries.
It is understood that a dog was also shot in the incident.
The shooting has no connection to gangland crime, a source added.
The scene has been preserved for a forensic examination.
A garda spokesman said: "Gardai and emergency services are currently at the scene of a firearms incident which occurred at approximately 1pm this afternoon, Tuesday, 22nd February 2022 in the Tallaght area of Dublin."
Gardai are requesting anyone with information on the incident to come forward to Tallaght Garda Station or any garda station.
