Man in hospital with serious injuries after crash between 'two electric bikes'

A man was taken to hospital with serious injuries after a crash which police suspect involved two electric bikes in Tameside on Sunday (September 4). The crash happened on Alt Hill Lane, a remote road north of Ashton-under-Lyne.

An air ambulance landed on a field nearby as police closed off the road temporarily. Numerous police vehicles and ambulances were in attendance at the scene at around 2pm.

One man was taken to hospital with injuries that are described as 'serious' but not thought to be life-threatening or life-changing. Greater Manchester Police suspect the crash involved two electronic bikes that did not remain at the scene however this is yet to be confirmed.

The road reopened later on Sunday evening. A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said: "At around 2pm today (Sunday 4 September), officers responded to a road traffic collision on Alt Hill Lane, Tameside.

An air ambulance also landed at the scene (David McGee)

"One man was taken to hospital with injuries that are not life threatening or life changing."

A spokesperson for the North West Air Ambulance Charity, said: “The North West Air Ambulance Charity attended a Road Traffic Collision (RTC) in Ashton-Under-Lyne at 1.40pm on Sunday 4 September. The incident involved a male in their 20s who was escorted by land ambulance to Salford Royal Hospital.”
