A Garda investigation has been launched after a man in his 50s was killed overnight in a house fire.
The blaze happened on the Saint Anne's Road in Drumconda in Dublin in the early hours of Monday morning.
Dublin Fire Brigade, the Gardai and ambulance all responded to the incident, and the man was pulled from the fire at around 2.45am.
He was taken to the Mater hospital where he received treatment but later passed away.
DFB noted that a number of people managed to escape from the house and self-rescued.
A garda spokesman told the Irish Mirror: "Gardai and emergency services attended the scene of a house fire in the early hours of this morning Monday 18th July, 2022 in Drumcondra, Dublin 9.
"At approximately 2.45a.m. Dublin Fire brigade removed a man, late 50s from the house who was taken to the Mater Hospital with serious burn injuries. He later passed away. A post mortem will take place at a later date.
"A number of other residents from the house managed to evacuate the house and were uninjured. Gardaí remain at scene at this time and investigations ongoing."
