A man in his 20s has had their leg “partially amputated” in a brutal targeted machete attack in Huddersfield.
The young man was purposely targeted in the attack shortly after 8pm yesterday evening in Sheepridge and suffered serious injuries.
A group of masked men are said to have targeted the man with a bladed weapon, police confirmed.
A number of roads including Woodhouse Hill and Wiggan Lane, were closed following the attack and police remain at the scene this morning.
Officers taped off the streets and closed them to the public, and there have been reports that blood was visible on the street.
West Yorkshire Police confirmed they were "dealing with an incident" in the area.
Local residents described the horrific events as "disgusting" with one local adding that she is "very sad".
The suspects were described as dressed in dark clothing and wearing balaclavas.
The victim is now in hospital and is his injuries are not thought to be life threatening, YorkshireLive reports.
This morning, there were a number of cordons in place around the local area, with officers having also taped off an alley near Gaukrodgers Traditional Sandwich Shop.
Police are now appealing for witnesses of the bloody attack, and want to speak to anyone who might have information.
DCI Olly Coates of Kirklees Police, said: "This has clearly been a very serious attack and I can promise residents that a full investigation is ongoing by detectives and colleagues today, with a number of active enquiries underway.
