Queensland Police have made an emergency declaration and established an exclusion zone in Logan after a man was seriously injured in a reported explosion and fire at a home.

Police made the declaration under the Public Safety Preservation Act (PSPA) shortly after 6pm on Thursday.

A man was rushed to Brisbane's Princess Alexandra Hospital in a serious condition after the explosion at the Kingston residence on Jacaranda Avenue, The Courier-Mail reported.

In the police declaration members of the public are advised to avoid the area and those within the exclusion zone are asked to remain indoors until further notice.
