A man has been taken to hospital following an early-morning two-vehicle crash in Fife.
Officers from Police Scotland and paramedics from the Scottish Ambulance Service scrambled to Main Street in Lochgelly at around 6.45am on Wednesday, February 23.
Cops found two vehicles had been involved in the smash and two people were injured.
Images from the scene show the front of one dark-coloured car completely destroyed, sitting almost horizontal across one side of the road.
Its windscreen also appears to be damaged.
Two fire engines and numerous firefighters are seen surrounding the motor while a police van is spotted further up the road.
Meanwhile, other motorists behind the crash are brought to a standstill.
In another image shared on social media a white van appears to have suffered less damage but has completely mounted the pavement.
Am ambulance is shown leaving the area.
Crews sealed off the area as part of their investigation, which is ongoing.
While two people were injured, only one required hospital treatment and was rushed to Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy.
His age, the nature of his injuries and current medical condition were not revealed.
No further details on the second injured person were released.
Police did not disclose whether those injured were a passengers, drivers or pedestrians.
The exact circumstances around the crash are unknown at this stage.
A Police Scotland spokeswoman told the Record: "A around 6.45am on Wednesday, February 23 police were called to a two vehicle crash on Main Street, Lochgelly.
"One man has been taken to Victoria Hospital following the crash.
"Enquiries are ongoing"
The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) confirmed the second injury.
Two appliances were sent to the scene and left after the area was made safe.
A SFRS spokesperson told the Record: “We were alerted at 6.43am on Wednesday, February 23 to reports of a collision involving one transit van and one car at Main Street, Lochgelly.
“Operations Control mobilised two fire appliances and firefighters assisted emergency service partners at the scene.
“Two casualties were in the care of the Scottish Ambulance Service and crews left after ensuring the area was made safe.”
The Scottish Ambulance Service have been contacted for comment.
