A man has been struck by a car in a Scots town in what cops are calling a "serious" incident.
Officers were alerted at around 9.25am today to reports of a man being hit by a vehicle on Ayr Road in Prestwick, Ayrshire. An ambulance also arrived shortly afterward and cops also shut down the road too.
Pictures from the scene show the medical vehicle still at the scene, with a large police presence of up to eight officers on the ground. Police tape has cordoned off a large area of the street as officers conduct their investigation into the crash.
A large lorry is parked stationary at the scene. Cops have erected a blue makeshift tent around the scene, next to an ambulance.
The condition of the man is not known at this stage.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 9.25am on Friday, 9 September, police were called to a report of a man struck by a vehicle on Ayr Road, Prestwick.
"Officers are at the scene dealing with this serious crash and the road is currently closed."
