Man fumes as upstairs neighbour chucks water over him after noise complaint

If you have a noisy neighbour, it's important to resolve the dispute amicably. After all, the people you live next to can have a significant impact on your home life, for better or for worse.

Well, one resident who needed to do something about his upstairs neighbour likely thought he had come up with a solution to his noise problem, when he asked his landlord to make a "general call" around the building. But the plan may have backfired as he lives in the middle floor of three-unit building, and it sounds like his neighbour took the call the wrong way and wants revenge.

Taking to Reddit to ask for help, the man revealed his neighbour poured water all over his balcony, while he was sitting on it.

His post to the website's 'neighborsfromhell' forum explained: "My upstairs neighbour makes podcasts and is so loud you can hear them from the street. They are constantly yelling, cursing loudly, and being obnoxious.

"You’d think if you made podcasts and live in an apartment you’d sound proof your office space? It’s so loud it is being picked up on my work calls, and it’s very inappropriate.

"They blast music from an amplifier, and also have parties regularly. I called my landlord and they made a general call to everyone in my building to keep the noise down. After that the next night they were running around stomping up and down their entire unit and yelling. I would expect better from middle aged tenants with no kids.

"What should I do? Edit: they just poured soapy water from their balcony while I was sitting on mine and it slashed all over me and got all over my bike and grill. Please help me!"

In response, people were quick to advise the man to talk to his landlord or the police. One person claimed: "That is vandalism. Make a police report and send the bill to your landlord. Seriously though, take them to small claims court for your damages."

A second said: "She's already pouring water on you, that's assault. Demand that your landlord do more than just call and remind people to be quiet. She needs to be on the road to eviction for doing this s***."

And someone else blasted the neighbour as a bully, before suggesting: "Begin to take pictures, record noises and note issues. Having evidence makes complaints more believable. They know they are being annoying and they hope you will keep quiet. Stand strong and be petty."
