Man fumes as housemate buys electric car - and still expects even energy bill split

The energy price cap for October was confirmed today, and will see millions of Brits face a rise of £1,578 a year on average, as Ofgem announced the price cap has risen from £1,971 to £3,549 for those on default tariffs paying by direct debit.

And the rising energy costs have angered one man in particular, as his housemate has gone out and bought an electric car - which will save him money on petrol, but will put more pressure on their energy bill as they'll need to charge the car at home. To make matters worse, the man claims his housemate is also insisting that they should continue to split their energy bill 50/50, effectively meaning the man will have to foot half the cost of running his housemate's car.
