A man has been living in a Travelodge after a huge sinkhole opened up under his home during a series of vicious storms.
Simon Sugden, from Keighley in Yorkshire, has been told by Bradford Council it is not safe to return to his home.
He was woken by firefighters in the early hours of February 27, as floodwater had caused a landslide which had eroded gardens, leaving homes unstable, reports YorkshireLive..
Simon lived next door to a garden that was totally swept away by the landslide.
He has been living at Keighley Travelodge temporarily for the past four days and has been told by his home insurers he can stay there for the next two weeks.
"It's been a nightmare," Simon said.
"The last few days have been like living in a disaster movie. I don't know whether I'm coming or going."
Simon's daughter has gone to stay with her mum but will visit him at the budget hotel this weekend.
The house also has sentimental value to Simon, as his father's ashes are buried in the garden.
He said: "It's obviously not safe to go digging around there at the moment. It's heartbreaking.
"I've also got lots of furniture and all my personal belongings in there that I can't get to."
