Man finds stranger living in his home running up £8k bill and can't kick him out

A man returned to his flat after being stuck in Australia during the pandemic found a stranger living in his home, who had run up £8,000 in utility bills - and he can't kick him out. Filippe Scalora, 41, went to visit his parents in December 2019 and was stuck in the country when global lockdowns were brought in.

When he got back to the Uk and went home, he found someone else living in his flat. Filippe said: "It's really taken a lot out of me. A stranger has been in my flat, running up bills and sleeping in my bed. Meanwhile I'm left homeless spending a fortune on hotels."

Filippe has an assured lifetime tenancy agreement at the flat due to a health condition, so when he was stuck in Australia he contacted housing firm Clarion to let them know about his situation.
