Matthew Williams visited his local Aldi supermarket in Neath to do his shopping and purchased a jar of the popular Cucina tuna pasta bake sauce. He kept it in his cupboard until he wanted to cook pasta for dinner at the weekend - and was left shocked and disappointed when he opened it to use in his meal and was promptly "greeted" with the mould.
Asked what he thought about the mould, he said: "I was shocked more than anything, I’ve never seen anything like that in any food I’ve bought before - was pretty disgusted! It spoilt that meal for me because I didn't have any more jars of the pasta bake left, but I wouldn't of wanted to finish making the meal anyway!"

Mr Williams promptly contacted Aldi to raise his concerns that mouldy food had been out on the shop floor. WalesOnline understands he received a voucher for £3. A 495g jar of Cucina tuna pasta bake costs 75p.
Aldi has apologised for the inconvenience and says incidents like this occur when packaging becomes "damaged".
A spokesperson for the supermarket said: "Although very rare, incidents like this can occasionally occur if packaging is damaged at any point before the product is consumed, as the contents may be exposed to air. We have apologised for any inconvenience this may have caused Mr Williams and have offered him a full refund."
