A man is in a critical condition after a stabbing in Sunderland city centre over the weekend.
An investigation has been launched after a man sustained serious neck injuries consistent with being caused by a blade at Bar Bloo on Derwent Street at around 8pm on Sunday.
Emergency services responded to the incident in the city centre and the man was taken to hospital where he remains in a critical but stable condition.

A cordon has been put up and police officers remain in the area as they carry out an investigation.

A Northumbria Police spokesperson said: “At 8pm yesterday (Sunday) we received a report that a man had been assaulted inside Bar Bloo on Derwent Street.
“Emergency services attended and found a male victim who had sustained serious neck injuries consistent with having been caused by a bladed article. He was taken to hospital where he remains in a critical but stable condition.
“An investigation is ongoing into the circumstances surrounding the incident. Officers remain in the area to carry out a range of enquiries.

A spokesperson for North East Ambulance Service said: “We were called at 7:57 on Sunday evening to a person injured at Bar Bloo on Derwent Street, Sunderland.
'We dispatched two crews from our Hazard Area Response Team and a double crewed ambulance. One patient was taken to hospital.”
