Man fighting for life after being found unconscious in Tallaght playground as gardai investigate if he fell

Gardai are investigating whether a man was assaulted or seriously injured as a result of a fall.

Edward Scott, 49, was last night in a serious condition in Dublin’s Beaumont Hospital after being discovered unconscious in a playground in Tallaght, south Co Dublin.

Mr Scott was discovered with serious head injuries in the playground in the Mac Uilliam estate at around 11.40pm on Saturday.

Emergency services were alerted to the scene, and Mr Scott was rushed to Tallaght Hospital via ambulance. He was later transferred to Beaumont Hospital to be treated for the as-of-yet unexplained serious head injury.

It is understood that gardai are keeping an open mind in relation to Mr Scott’s injuries, and officers were probing whether he might have been the victim of an assault — or a fall.

On Sunday, gardai were making enquiries around the area for potential CCTV footage and dash-cam footage. The scene was also preserved for a forensic examination.

In a statement, gardai appealed for any witnesses to come forward — and also appealed for anyone with video footage to make it available to them.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Tallaght Garda Station immediately on 01 666 6000 or get in contact on the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111.
