A man is fighting for his life after being attacked by a gang.
Merseyside police have confirmed they were called to reports of an assault, at around 1.15am on Tuesday, July 12. Emergency services rushed to Stanley Road, opposite Bootle Strand, and a man was taken to hospital.
The victim is in a critical condition after allegedly being attacked by a "group of youths" in the Bootle area. A crime scene is currently in place while officers carry out enquiries.

The police cordon covers a section of pavement, between Stanley Road and Strand Road, near to a bus stop. Forensic officers have been spotted at the taped off area this morning and have put blue tarpaulin down to cover evidence.
A spokesperson for Merseyside police said: "We can confirm that officers are currently on Stanley Road in Bootle following reports of an assault in the area. At around 1.15am in the early hours of this morning, Tuesday 12 July, officers were called to a report of an assault on the road.
"A man was taken to hospital in a critical condition after reports that he was assaulted by a group of youths in the area. A scene is currently in place on Stanley Road whilst officers remain in the area.
