Man fighting for his life in hospital after horror motorbike crash in Seaton Delaval

A motorbike rider is fighting for his life following a crash with a car in Northumberland.

Police have launched an investigation into the collision which took place on the A192 near the Victoria and Albert pub in Seaton Delaval at around 6.20pm on Tuesday, September 13. The man riding the motorbike was taken to the Royal Victoria Infirmary (RVI) in Newcastle by ambulance where he remains in a critical condition.

The road was closed for nine hours while emergency services remained at the scene but reopened in the early hours of Wednesday morning. Northumbria Police have now launched an appeal for anyone with information or dash-cam footage of the incident to contact the force.

A Northumbria Police spokeswoman said: “Shortly after 6.20pm yesterday (Tuesday), we received a report of a road traffic collision, involving a motorcycle and a car on the A192 near the Victoria and Albert pub in Seaton Delaval.

“Emergency services were called to the scene and the rider was taken to hospital, where he remains in a critical condition. His family are currently being supported by specialist officers.

“The road was closed for nine hours before being re-opened shortly after 3am this morning.

"Enquiries into the incident are on-going. Anyone with information or dashcam footage is asked to contact us online via our ‘Tell us Something’ section of the website, quoting log NP-20220913-0827.”

North East Ambulance Service confirmed that the Great North Air Ambulance Service also attended the incident.

A North East Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: "We were called to reports of a road traffic collision on Seaton Terrace in Seaton Delaval at 6.20pm last night. We dispatched one ambulance crew, a clinical team leader and a specialist paramedic, and requested support from Great North Air Ambulance Service.

"One patient was taken by road to the RVI for further treatment."
