A man is fighting for his life in hospital after being gunned down in a south-west London cul-de-sac in the early hours of Friday.
Officers and paramedics were called to reports of a shooting in residential Newhouse Close, New Malden, at about 1.40am.
A man was found with a gunshot injury.
He was taken to hospital for treatment, where he remained on Friday afternoon in a critical but stable condition.
No arrests have yet been made but Scotland Yard says an investigation is underway.
The victim’s age has not been confirmed.
A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We were called this morning (10 February) at 1:40 to reports of a shooting on South Lane, New Malden.
“We sent a number of resources to the scene, including an incident response officer, an ambulance crew, and an advanced paramedic.
“We also dispatched London’s Air Ambulance.
“We treated a person at the scene before taking them to a Major Trauma Centre as a priority.”
The shooting came just hours after a man was fatally shot in a separate incident in Erith, south-east London, on Thursday night.
