Earning £180,000 a year, living in a £1 million home, and working as little as 30 hours during some weeks might sound like the definition of financial success. Yet one senior financial services employee says he still finds himself asking whether his salary is truly 'enough'.

The 42-year-old, who works in London, explained that although his compensation provides a comfortable lifestyle, an £800,000 mortgage means his household remains heavily dependent on two incomes. While he believes he could negotiate another £10,000 to £20,000 in annual pay, he worries that becoming one of the company's highest-paid employees could also make him more vulnerable if redundancies arise.
