A man has been arrested and charged following an alleged serious assault in Glasgow's east end.
We told how police were called to the Gallowgate, near the Barrowland Ballroom, at around 6.40pm on Tuesday.
Later that night officers said a man was attacked in the area and rushed to hospital with a head injury.
On Wednesday morning, police revealed a 34-year-old man had been arrested and charged in connection with the incident which they are now treating as a 'serious assault'.
He is due to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Wednesday.
The alleged victim's age, current medical condition and hospital he was taken to were not disclosed by cops.
The exact circumstances surrounding the incident are yet to be confirmed.
An image previously shared with the Daily Record on Tuesday showed a number of police officers at the scene which was sealed off.
Two cop motors patrolled the cordon, blocking off other motorists.
The cordon was placed near the famous venue where indie rock band The Wombats were due to play, with doors opening at 7pm.
A police spokesperson told the Record on Tuesday: “We were called around 6.40pm on Tuesday, April 19 to a report of an assault in the Gallowgate area of Glasgow.
"A man has been taken to hospital with a head injury and enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.”
On Wednesday morning a spokeswoman confirmed the arrest and charge while a report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.
She told the Record: "A 34-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with this serious assault.
"He is due to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Wednesday, 20 April.
"A report will be forwarded to the Procurator Fiscal."
