Greater Manchester Police said the force was called to an address on Waterfold Business Park in the Heywood area just after 4pm on January 13.

Officers had received a report for the concern of the welfare of a man.

The force said: “Emergency services attended and enquiries established an altercation had occurred and a man - who has since been formally identified as 34-year-old Craig Fitzpatrick - had been assaulted.

“He was taken to hospital but sadly succumbed to his injuries on Sunday, January 16, 2022.”

O’Brien, 37 and of Leyfield Road, West Derby, is due to appear at Manchester Magistrates’ Court today.
