Man drowns at Sydney beach

A man has died after being dragged from the water at Sydney's Palm Beach. (AAP)

A man believed to be in his 50s has died after being pulled from the surf at a northern Sydney beach.

Emergency services were called to Palm Beach about 12.10pm on Sunday following reports of a man being pulled from the water unconscious.

People had spotted an unoccupied surf ski and reported it to lifesavers who found the man in the water and brought him to shore.

Lifesavers tried giving CPR but the man died at the scene.

He has not yet been formally identified and police will prepare a report for the coroner.

Anyone with information was urged to contact Crime Stoppers.
