A man doused his girlfriend’s bed in turpentine and set it on fire while she was still in it.
Cain Meadows, of Berwyn Grove, St Helens, appeared in Liverpool Crown Court for six counts relating to one incident in August 2021. A court heard that on the morning of August 21, 2021, at the home of Faye Welding, Meadows’ partner, the couple had an argument because she would not drive him to work.
The dispute continued throughout the day and in the afternoon, Ms Welding told Meadows she was thinking of selling her house and moving in with her mother. This enraged Meadows, and he threatened to “burn her house down so she would have no house to sell”.
