A man who was disqualified from getting behind the wheel of a car for 12 months was then stopped by police while driving home from his court appearance. The unnamed Gwynedd resident had been found guilty of drink driving on Tuesday and was given a year-long ban.
But that still didn't stop him from then getting in his car and begin travelling back to his home in Pwllheli. However, officers from North Wales Police's Gwynedd South team were on hand to explain to him the finer points of his sentence - whilst reporting him for driving whilst disqualified with no insurance.
"He thought it was a good idea to drive from court in his car - subsequently the vehicle was seized," posted someone from NWP Gwynedd South on social media. They added: "Positive result." NorthWalesLive added that the incident caused a bemused reaction among other online users. One said it reminded him of the time when North Wales Police offered to breathalyse drivers before they drove home the morning after a music festival in Dolgellau.
"Half the drivers drove to the police station to take the test," he added. "Unreal! What could possibly go wrong with that approach?"
