If your silver or copper needs polishing because it's been a while since you tended to it, one man thinks he's got the perfect solution - and it's something a little out of the ordinary. So much so that someone joked: "How do people figure this stuff out?"
Rather than reaching for the sterling silver cloth, or salt and white vinegar mix for copper, a man has suggested that McDonald's mayonnaise sauce may be just the ticket to help your metals come up as good as new. It's safe to say that people are both baffled and amazed by the suggestion.
The savvy bloke took to Reddit's 'Life Hacks' forum to share his wisdom, writing: "McDonald's not-mayo is an effective cleaner/polisher of silver and copper."
People were left wondering how the man worked out the life hack, and he explained he used to work in Maccies when he was in high school.
He wrote: "There was a dirty penny that was half-touching a dollop of not-mayo on a tray in the cleaning pile, and I noticed the part touching the mayo was shiny after it got sprayed with water."
In the comments, people were trying to figure out why it did that, with some praising him for the discovery.
One wrote: "There's like a 100% chance it has something to do with the pH of the not-Mayo and friction/abrasion."
"It probably has vinegar in it", someone else suggested, which can be commonly used to help clean metals.
Somebody praised the man, writing: "That's such a beautiful observation. I love that you noticed that and then made the connection. So many people would not have even given it a second thought. Makes me remember to appreciate the little things more, thanks."
Others suggested ketchup can do similar.
