Man dies while trying to save son from drowning in Odisha

BHUBANESWAR: A man lost his life while attempting to rescue his eight-year-old son from drowning in the Kathajodi river in Odisha's Cuttack district on Sunday.

Saroj Sahi, a resident of Naraj, and father of two, took his sons to the Kaibartasahi ghat for a bath, and during their time in the river, the younger boy slipped into the strong current.

In a brave effort to save his son, Saroj ventured into the deep water, successfully pulling up his child but tragically succumbing to the river's currents himself.

Fortunately, local women bathing nearby managed to rescue the minor boy. Fishermen later retrieved Saroj from the river and rushed him to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack. Despite their efforts, doctors pronounced him dead. The incident serves as a heartbreaking reminder of the risks associated with water activities, even in seemingly familiar environments.
