Man dies in road crash tragedy on A75 just days before Christmas

A man has tragically died in a road crash near Dumfries just two days before Christmas.

Emergency services raced to the single-vehicle collision on the A75 near to the Lochfoot Roundabout at 11pm yesterday. Medics attended, however the 30-year-old driver of the silver Renault Megane was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

No other vehicles were involved and nobody else was injured. The road was closed overnight to allow police inquiries take place and has since reopened.

Officers investigating the circumstances of the crash have asked for any witnesses to come forward. Particularly, they want to hear from those with dash-cam footage.

Sergeant Kenny Malaney said: “Our thoughts are with the man’s family and friends at this difficult time. We are working to establish the full circumstances of this incident and would urge anyone who may have witnessed the incident or saw the vehicle prior to it leaving the road to get in touch.

“We would also be keen to speak to anyone who may have dashcam footage. If you can help please call 101, quoting reference 4032 of 23 December.”
